Guest Lecture by Dr. Venkat N Joshi at IAMC

A special guest lecture was held at the Conference Hall of P. A. Sangma Block, Institute of Ayurveda and Medical Sciences (IAMC) on 27th October 2025 at 2:30 PM, featuring Dr. Venkata Narayana Joshi (BAMS.MD.PhD) Academic Committee Member, Dravyaguna (Pharmacology), EuropeAyurvedaAcademy, 16 rue Flamande 30000 NIMES FRANCE, United Kingdom.

The event was graced by the presence of Dr. R. K. Sharma, Advisor to the Chancellor, USTM, Dr. R. K. Sharma, Principal, IAMC; Dr. Anil Sharma, Advisor, IAMC; along with all faculty members of IAMC.

Dr. Joshi, who visited IAMC along with his extended family, was warmly welcomed at the campus entrance. The Principal and faculty members extended a traditional welcome gesture and felicitated him with a Gamocha and a memento as a token of appreciation.

In his address, Dr. Joshi delivered an insightful lecture on the ongoing global efforts to promote Ayurveda, sharing his experiences of working with Ayurvedic institutions in the United Kingdom and Europe. He elaborated on how their organization is striving to integrate Ayurveda with modern healthcare frameworks abroad and emphasized the growing recognition of traditional Indian medicine worldwide.

A key highlight of his talk was the announcement regarding the launch of a full-fledged BAMS course in London under the guidelines given by NCISM & Ministry of AYUSH, India, an initiative aimed at providing authentic Ayurvedic education and clinical training overseas. He also expressed a strong desire to collaborate academically with USTM and IAMC, proposing the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate student and faculty exchange programs and collaborative research opportunities between India and the UK.

The session concluded with an engaging interactive discussion, where IAMC faculty members posed several thought-provoking questions that led to an enriching exchange of ideas.

Following the lecture, Dr. Joshi and his family toured the IAMC campus, visiting key facilities in front of the statue of Maharshi Charaka, symbolizing the institute’s dedication to the ancient roots of Ayurveda.

The event not only strengthened academic ties but also reflected IAMC’s continued commitment to fostering international collaborations for the global propagation of Ayurveda.
