The treatment of any disease should be aimed not only to relieve the suffering but also to eliminate the causative from the body. And now a days in Medical science mostly looking forward to relieve the suffering rather than eliminating it. Ayurveda conceptualised the treatment in two aspects one as shamana therapy and another aspect as shodana(curative and eliminative) in which latter is dealt with panchakarma thrapy. Panchakarma means a blend of 5 procedures mainly Vamana, Virechana, Basti, Shirovirechana & Raktamokshana concerned with elminating the impurities of the Body through natural passages. Though panchakarma treatment is said as shodana therapy(eliminative) but it also gives instant relief to the patient by relieving the suffering also. Hence it is a blend of palliative, curative and nourishing treatments.
Its main aim to eliminate morbid toxic factors resulted out of digestion, metabolic processes (end products) and other stressful factors from the body and at same time regulating Doshas, Dhatus and Malas by maintain homeostasis of biological, chemical balances in the body. The panchakarma is vital wing which assists all Astangas of Ayurveda.
Vision:
To make the panchakarma as one of the essential branch of Medicine by playing a key role in catering the needs of Astangas of Ayurveda(i.e Medical, Surgical, ENT, and gynaecology etc.) in coming future and demonstrating its key role in maintenance of health and disease alike in practice.
