IA Ayurvedic Medical College, USTM launched the Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan campaign

9th Mile, Khanapara, Ri Bhoi, November 3, 2024: Today IA Ayurvedic Medical College, USTM launched the Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan campaign in the campus with the official inauguration by Prof. G.D. Sarma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, USTM in the presence of Principal, IAMC, Advisor to the Hon’ble Chancellor , USTM, Medical Superintendant, PIMC and other dignitaries and guests. — Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi Ji announced the nationwide campaign Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan on the auspicious occasion of Ayurveda Day celebrated on 29th October, 2024 at the All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi.   As per the announcement of Hon’ble Minister of AYUSH Shri Prataprao Jadhav Ji, the 1st phase of this campaign has already started from 26/11/2024 (Constitution day) and shall run until the respected former Prime Minister of India Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birth anniversary on 25th December, 2024.

IA Ayurvedic Medical College Celebrates 2nd Foundation Day

9th Mile, Khanapara, Ri Bhoi, November 2, 2024: “The future of Ayurveda is very promising. We are committed to working together with Ayurveda as it evolves into a complementary medicine,” stated Dr. Ashok Puranik, Executive Director of AIIMS Guwahati. Dr. Puranik was addressing the second Foundation Day celebration of the Indian Ayurvedic Medical College (IAMC) at the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM). Emphasizing the integration of biotechnology and genetics with Ayurvedic practices, he underscored the importance of research in understanding the benefits and potential side effects of Ayurvedic medicines.   Speaking to an audience of doctors, staff, and enthusiastic students, Dr. Puranik highlighted the need for a research-driven approach in healthcare. “Research is essential to understand the full spectrum of medicine effects. Even in allopathy, we recommend yoga exercises. Students should carry a research mindset throughout their careers,” he advised.   The Foundation Day celebrations marked IAMC’s successful first year since receiving approval from the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine under USTM. The program began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, attended by dignitaries including Dr. Puranik, Dr. Swapan Kr. Chakraborty, former Head of the Department of Rog Nidan at Government Ayurvedic College, Guwahati; Prof. G.D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor of USTM; Padma Shri Dr. Sarbeswar Sahariah, Pro Vice Chancellor of USTM; and Dr. B.K. Das, Principal of PIMC.   Dr. Rama Kanta Sharma, Principal of IAMC, delivered the welcome address, followed by an insightful address from Prof. G.D. Sharma on the potential of Ayurveda and IAMC’s mission. Dr. Swapan Kr. Chakraborty spoke on Ayurveda as a holistic way of life, while Padma Shri Dr. Sarbeswar Sahariah praised Ayurveda’s rich traditions and envisioned a bright future for Ayurvedic medicine, inspiring young Ayurvedic doctors to advance clinical and pharmaceutical research.   The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Anil Kumar Sharma, Advisor of IAMC, and a cultural performance by IAMC students and hospital staff, celebrating the vibrant heritage of Ayurveda and the institution’s achievements.

IAMC Celebrates 9th National Ayurveda Day and Dhanwantari Jayanti – 2024

9th Mile, Khanapara, Ri Bhoi, October 29, 2024: Along with the country and worldwide, the IA Ayurvedic Medical College of the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has celebrated the 9th National Ayurveda Day today on the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Sri Sri Lord Dhanwantari. The event was participated by Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque, Vice Chancellor Prof GD Sharma, Dr. R K Sharma, Principal IAMC, Prof Dr BK Das, Principal PA Sangma International Medical College, Dr RK Sharma, Advisor USTM, while the resource person was Dr. Dhanehwar Kalita, Former Principal, Government Ayurvedic College Guwahati. The program was flagged off with Ayurveda Walkathon Rally within the campus joined by students and staff with slogans and banners, highlighting the theme of Ayurveda Day –“Ayurveda Innovation for Global Health”–and specially Preventive and Promotive measures of Ayurveda for appraisal of common people. A display of AYUR AHARA MELA (Traditional Food Recipe Fest) was also presented by the students where they displayed various food items in different stalls. The official function was held at the NKC Auditorium which began with the lighting of the Lamp by the esteemed guests followed by Dhanwantari Vandana by the students. Dr. R K Sharma, Principal IAMC, delivered the welcome address followed by a valuable speech by Prof. G D Sharma, Vice Chancellor, USTM on Ayurveda. The main highlight of the program was a guest lecture by Dr. Dhanehwar Kalita, Former Principal, Government Ayurvedic College Guwahati. He highlighted insights from his vast experience in the field of Ayurveda. He explained what is innovation in health and how Ayurveda approaches promote the healthcare system, especially Preventive health. He said that the theme of this year’s Ayurveda Day has given a new dimension to the contribution of Ayurveda to Global Health. Another program held on this occasion was the offering of puja to Sri Sri Dhanwantari, the Hindu God of Medicine. On the 13th day of dark moon in the Hindu month of Kartik, this Jayanti is observed in all Ayurveda institutions, Hospitals as well as Drug Manufacturing units. IAMC also paid respect to the Holy feet of Lord Dhanwantari with Puja and Homa followed by Prasad distribution. The event was wrapped up by performing Arati and Banti Prajwalan.
